The meeting was hosted by SERTUC at Esher Place. There were 44 participants, and 22 confederations were represented.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ectun.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Capital-Cities-Conference-2017-at-Esher.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-516 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ectun.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Capital-Cities-Conference-2017-at-Esher-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Capital Cities Conference 2017 at Esher\" width=\"584\" height=\"779\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ectun.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Capital-Cities-Conference-2017-at-Esher-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.ectun.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Capital-Cities-Conference-2017-at-Esher-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 584px) 100vw, 584px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Before the conference a survey was conducted amongst Network members on migration to capital cities in Europe and the results were presented to delegates during the conference.<\/p>\n<p>ETUC general secretary Luca Visentini attended the conference leading a presentation on the Future of Europe, and UK trade unions Unite and BECTU presented their response to Brexit.<\/p>\n<p>A key piece of the work, designed to strengthen the ECTUN for the future, was the agreement of a set of Rules for the future organisation of the organisation to enable it to better work with other regional and international trade union organisations.<\/p>\n<p>The conference also heard from<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Professor Sonia McKay, on <em>The economic impact of migration on pay, social cohesion and public service<\/em>.
